June 1st, 2003 (Admirals Log)
As predicted, we did not come untied through the night.  Today is cool but there is bright sunshine and the number of houseboats is starting to dwindle, as I guess the weekend rentals are coming to an end.  It should get quieter here now.

From June 2nd, to July 4th, (Admirals Log - Fianal  Installment on Great Circle)
As we have been working our way back up the Trent Canal I'm afraid we have become a little lax on keeping accurate records.  We have been enjoying this part of the trip so much, it seemed more important to enjoy than to write.  But now I'm afraid that I must set my records to rights.

It's a Golden Fishing morning!
June 10, 2003

We bounced around the last few locks before lake Simcoe.  We spent several nights at Fenlon Falls, Rosedale and then back to Fenlon Falls.  While at Fenlon Falls we managed to come in contact  with the Fuel Truck that fills the tour boat.  He came down and filled our boat at a substantial savings from the Marina prices.  We were also passed right at the lock by the Kawartha Voyager, a large 100 foot 3 story cruise boat that goes up and down the Trent.  It didn't look like we would both fit but there was no problem.

Oh goody lets play.

No Mad Cows here
June 14, 2003

Just before the Father's Day week-end we took the boat down to the Thorah Lock # 40.  We spent several days there.  Our daughter Shelly picked us up so we could get our car.  We had dinner in Barrie with the Kids and did some shopping and stocking up before we went home.  We were able to take the car and take in the Orillia Boat Show. We went home on Sunday morning for Father's Day.  We had breakfast with Fred and Wendy at their place and then headed for Colin's Mum and Dad, to take them out for dinner.  We had a really nice time and a good visit.

Monday was dedicated to running around for doctor's appointments, picking up prescriptions, some more stocking up and ending off the day with dinner in Mississauga with Ed and Frances.

Tuesday Colin took the car back to Barrie and did the last of our last minute purchases.  Shelly brought him back and stayed to have dinner.

Big Shoot....going down.
June 19, 2003

Lake Simcoe and Couchiching were easy crossings with fair weather. We made our way to the Big Chute and then finally the last Lock to Georgian Bay  at Port Severn.  Things got a little hairy here.  The lock was fine, coming out of the Lock was fine, then there is that little part between the Lock and just under the Hwy 69 bridge. A-H-H-H-H-H.........couldn't quit make the turn as there was about a 5 knot current behind us.....backed up......made the turn .....okay everything is going fine...A-H-H-H-H-H....There is a 40 foot Bayliner headed for us, with a driver who is obviously deaf!!  Colin radioed him to get out of the way because when there are markers so close together they will hit both sides of our boat, there isn't' room for him!!  I yelled off the bow for him to back up.....Nope he's still deaf!  Colin told him over the radio that if he did not alter his course that we would Collide.  The coast guard then came on the radio requesting details of the collision.  Finally Mr. Deaf and Dumb actually went off the channel and may have even gone aground to let us by.  Excuse me! Heart in throat!!!, but we made it.

The Dock in Little Beausoleil Bay

The dock from the shore.
June 22, 2003

So here we are back in Honey Harbour, Oh My! A lot more crowed than I remember!  We went to Little Beausoleil  Island to one of the Parks Docks , right beside the  Wanakita YMCA Camp.  We were hoping that it would be quiet  (mid week) so that we could sand and paint the sides of the boat from the perfect height dock.  Not so much!  they have added Finger docks to the one long dock and the place filled up completely by the end of Friday.  We were a little overwhelmed.  These people were here to sit on the dock and fuss over their perfect boats, not to listen to our power sander and watch us paint.   We did however manage to see a mother Rattlesnake that was found curled up in the fire pit.  There was a fellow there that used to work for the Wye Marsh Conservation Authority and was quite knowledgeable about snakes.  He was actually holding it.......Ya ......Right... not me! We took the dingy into Frying pan Bay to see if it was any better.  The end T- Dock was empty.  2 days to do what we  had to get done before the week-end. Filling scratches, sanding and painting...  Mission Accomplished.

We got us a swimming dog!

We stayed here till Friday morning of the long week end.  We met some really nice people here.  Splash also met some dog friends and had a great time swimming.

Airplane coming in to Henry's Fish Restaurant.
June 27, 2003

We left Friday morning and were sitting tied to Henry's Fish Restaurant docks just before noon.  Henry's is a constant in this area.  Just one of those places you don't drive by. Friendly service and lots of fish.

Cort our son came on Saturday morning.  Colin went to pick him up at the Wood's Bay Marina.  He brought an infusion of fresh veggies and milk!  He also brought the "I want to Play 24 Hours a Day" puppy named Phin.  Splash and Phin had a great time.

On Sunday my nephew Steven and his wife Trish, kids Codie and Lauren, and Steve's in-laws Pat and Barrie all came to see us.  Steven and Cort did some crazy jumping off the Radar Arch.  After everyone left Colin and Cort went fishing and Cort caught two nice Pike.
