Day -1- Admirals'  Log
Maid of Steel made it's route to the Bustard Island in Georgian Bay , after setting out from Britt.
The first days trip was uneventful and helped us get used to the idea of traveling and anchoring, something we have not done for a   while.

Day -2- Admirals'  Log
We weighed anchor at about 9:00am and headed for the Le Cloche mountains in Killarney.  The scenery here is breathtaking.  On approaching the mountains they appear to have snow on them, but really is white and rose quartz.  There is an amazing fish place in Killarney right on the main street.  “Herbert’s Fish & Chips” serves the best fish and chips you have ever tasted.  Naturally we ate way too much.

Day -3- Admirals'  Log
We traveled 22 miles today which brought us to the town docks in Little Current.  We needed groceries and found 2 stores within a short walking distance from the docks.  We had an amazingly good meal at the Anchor Hotel (slightly diveish).  The only thing that bothered me was the fact that there was a Harley Drivers Convention going on there and there were some rather unsavory looking sorts hanging around.

Day -4- Admirals'  Log
Our route today takes us to new territory.  We have never been past Little Current by Boat.  Everything here is on a much grander scale, Islands larger and open spaces larger.   It was very calm today and we made good time.  We stayed anchored out just past a little town called Sprague.

Day -5 & 6- Admirals'  Log
Thessalon was our destination for today.  Not a very large town.  1 each of grocery store, hardware store, bank library, craft store and car dealership.  Nice place to visit shortly but I wouldn't want to stay long. We did however stay anchored out in the bay and did some more boat work.  Painting, hooking up lights and various other need to do stuff.  Just as we were settling down after dinner, a huge freighter came in to be loaded with sand.  I think he was having a hard time getting into position, cause there were lights flashing and motors revving and  he kept going back and forth.   That was our excitement for the day.  Doesn't take much any more.

Day -7- Admirals'  Log
We departed from Thessalon around 9:00 am and headed for the US of A.  We went as far as De Tour Harbor and then decided to carry on and try for Mackinaw.  About 10 minutes out we decided it was too rough and we were taking the waves broad side....not good.......turned around and went back to De Tour Harbor.  From here we called to do our Customs and Immigration thing.  Sorry have to go to a different place because we were missing some sticker.(nobody ever told us about no sticker) We then proceeded to Drummond Island where we checked in with immigration and customs.  They hardly wanted to know anything, we didn't even have to show our birth certificates.

Day -8- Admirals'  Log
We started out early from the Marina, only to have to turn back because it was still too rough.  We spent the day anchored in this little bay that ended up being a bad choice.  Every wave from the main water way somehow funneled its way into this little bay.  You got it.....an entire day and night of rocking and rolling, not to mention the thunder storm that tossed us around like a cork.

Day -9- Admirals'  Log
Since we didn't do much sleeping anyway, we left the anchorage at 7:00 and headed out again, this time successfully.  By about 2:30 on Friday afternoon we reached St. Ignace just the other side of Mackinac Island.  We anchored off just outside of town in a little bay and had ready access to a grocery store, hardware and post office, all the things we needed.  Colin was thrilled to   find some cheap American beer.

Day -10- Admirals'  Log
Left early and did a full days run in really rough water.  After about 8 hours of pitching and rolling we sighted the entrance to the harbor in Charlevoix.  We were ready for some quiet waters.  This place is absolutely beautiful.  Amazing homes, big boats and people's yards are right out of Home and Garden Magazine.  You go up this channel out of Lake Michigan and into what is called Round Lake, from there to a whole other lake system.

Day -11- Admirals'  Log
The weather report was not promising so we put in a day of labour on the boat.  Hey these things have to be done.  We worked all day and got ready for an early start in the morning.

Day -12- Admirals'  Log
Got the early start, but about 15 minutes out into the Lake, Colin decided it was just too rough and we had quite a long distance to go to make the next port.  Back we went.  Today we would play tourist.  We found a hardware store for Colin’s necessary items and then carried on to the drug store and lunch at a little fish and chips place.  After lunch we got some fresh veggies and milk and then we walked down to the fresh fish store. We purchased a piece of Lake Michigan Salmon and when the lady found out we were going though by boat she gave us a big piece of fresh White fish for nothing. Yummy!

Day -13- Admirals'  Log
Got a really early start..... 5:00AM, out to the lift bridge by 6:00.......nobody told us we had crossed into a different time zone. Dah!  All in all we left at 6:00 real time and put in a full days run.  The roughest yet.  We were tossed and thrown every which way.  Not so fun.  I was very glad to see Port today which was Frankfurt Michigan.  Colin was so exhausted from fighting the waves all day, we had dinner and went to bed.

Day -14-Admirals'  Log
It was much calmer today and we put in about 10 hours of running.  We pulled into the Port at Ludington We decided to go out for dinner to a place called P.M. Steamers.  Lake Perch, crab cakes and good stuff all round.  We walked out of the place completely stuffed.  Ludington has a Ferry service that runs to Manitowoc Wisconsin.  This time of year it runs once a day and can carry 620 passengers and 180 cars, Tour Busses, R.V.’s and semi Trucks.  The S.S. Badger has been in operation for over 100 years.

Day -15- Admirals'  Log
Got away a little bit late today.  We slept in because it was so dreary looking outside.  We ended up in a place called White Lake, flanked on one side by Whitehall and the other side by Montague.  We walked past a small restaurant in Montague and I fully expected to see Fonzie and Ritchie sitting there having a burger.  It wasn’t like they were going for the nostalgia look, I just don’t think that they have ever changed anything.  The other town was much better, only on Friday nights you have to jump out of the way so you don’t get caught when they roll up the streets.

Captains' Log  Filled up with fuel $625 US will report mileage if I ever get time

Day -16- (Admiral’s Log)
Well the forecast said less than 1 foot waves, not 2 to 4 meters!! Yikes it's brutal out here!  Made a quick decision to pull into South Haven, even though there was no place to anchor there was a municipal marina.  Ouch! 61.50 US for 1 night.  You could stay for 3 nights and get 4 more free, but we didn't want to stay a whole week.

Day -17- (Admiral's Log)
Colin went out in the dingy to check on the wave height and we decided we would leave and try to make the next port as there was a free wall to tie to and also an anchorage.  As the morning progressed the water got calmer, but we pulled in anyway to St. Joseph’s and Benton Harbor anyway.  We need to do an oil change and the weather doesn’t look good for the next days coming so we will stay put here.  It is amazing the waterfronts that these little ports have.  Beautiful parks, sand beaches and very people friendly places.
